The Arborist Safe Work Practices (ASWP) are safe work guidelines, written by the industry, for the industry.
The Arborist Safe Work Practices Committee (ASWPC) is a volunteer committee composed of arboriculture professionals committed to improving health and safety in the industry.
Established in 1999 with Workplace Safety & Prevention Services (WSPS) as a supporting organization, the committee works collaboratively to develop, maintain, and promote practical safety standards for arborists, employers, educators, and workers across Ontario.

The ASWP Guidebook is a comprehensive safety resource covering safe work practices, hazard awareness, equipment use, emergency preparedness, and industry best practices.
Used by employers, supervisors, trainers, and workers alike, the guidebook helps support safer job sites and stronger safety culture throughout the arboriculture industry.

Meetings and Events

The ASWP Committee meets quarterly to review industry developments, discuss emerging safety concerns, and work on updates to the guidebook and related resources.
Meetings may include committee discussions, guest speakers, and collaborative safety initiatives.
